About

Hello, I am Samuel, I run Taskfix, and I am also a mature student, studying for a master's degree in Coaching Psychology. I conduct furniture assembly to support my studies and also enjoy doing it.

Background:

In my twenties, I restored two properties: a one-bedroom flat in Portsmouth and a detached house in Cowplain, learning everything from plastering to floor sanding and finishing. I loved the process of restoring old houses and really enjoyed D.I.Y.

In 2010, I moved to the U.S. for work in the music industry and ended up staying for 10 years. While living in Los Angeles, I became inspired to develop my woodworking skills after visiting Sam Maloof's house and the Gamble House, which led to taking weekend woodworking and furniture-making classes. It was an obvious choice that I could combine my love of guitar playing and woodworking by becoming a fully qualified luthier, which led to having a guitar repair shop in Seattle, where I did everything from neck resets and refrets to full restorations.

To help fund my Seattle shop, I joined TaskRabbit, Thumbtack, and Dolly. I did all kinds of tasks like small removals and junk runs, but one of my favorites was furniture assembly and carpentry. I received many positive reviews and, in time, assembled more furniture than guitars—which gradually became a hobby rather than a profession.

Due to Covid, I returned to the U.K. in 2020 and have been living in Portsmouth since. I recently completed my undergraduate degree in June 2024, having taken the last three years off to fully focus on my studies.

I have a high attention to detail, a friendly manner, and genuinely enjoy the work I do. I’ve always found great satisfaction in building things—whether it’s assembling flat-pack furniture or applying the final coats on a decorating project.

If you’ve recently purchased some furniture, or need something delivered, collected, cleared, or built, feel free to check out the price list or get in touch via the contact form for a more tailored quote.

I look forward to meeting you.
Best wishes,
Samuel
